Verification of Non-Tax Filing Status

Independent students and parents of dependent students who did not file an IRS income tax return must obtain a “Verification of Non-filing” letter from the IRS.

Instructions

  1. Click "Get Transcript Online."
  2. Validate your identity by providing financial information (such as a mortgage or credit card account number) or a mobile phone account in your name.
  3. Select "Verification of Non-Filing Letter" and choose the tax year you need.
  4. View and print the letter immediately if your identity is successfully verified.
